James DEXTER [Parents] was born May 1662 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA. He died 15 Jul 1694. James married Elizabeth TOBEY about 1691 in Rochester, , Massachusetts.

p.12:p. 11-12:  "He  [WILLIAM DEXTER] was one of a party of 30, which
included such men as William Bradford. . .who became the grantees of the
town of Rochester [Plymouth, MA.]   When he died he owned considerable
land both in Barnstable and in Rochester which he gave to his children, as
follows: JAMES, THOMAS, and JOHN DEXTER had the Rochester [Mass]
lands, while STEPHEN, PHILIP and BENJAMIN DEXTER had the Barnstable
land.  The children all went to Rochester except PHILIP, who removed to
Falmouth, Mass, and STEPHEN, who remained in Barnstable and who was
the only one of the name in the town in 1703."

Elizabeth TOBEY married James DEXTER about 1691 in Rochester, , Massachusetts.


John DEXTER [Parents] was born Aug 1668 in , Barnstable, MA. He died 31 Jul 1744. John married Sarah CLARK on 2 Mar 1702 in Rochester, Plymouth, MA.

Stephen, and William Dexter.  Dau. Mary Sarle."

If the above John is indeed the same as John Dexter born 1668, he would
be 96 years old.  That is indeed "advanced in old age."

Sarah CLARK married John DEXTER on 2 Mar 1702 in Rochester, Plymouth, MA.

ancestral file has her a Sarah, Sarah C. Mar??, Sarah C. Marsh, I"ll go with Sarah Clark for now, no better evidence


John FRENCH married Mary DEXTER.

Mary DEXTER [Parents] was born about 1620 in Eng. She married John FRENCH.

pg 320:  "In 1657 MR. DEXTER [Sr.] took the oath of fidelity and was
admitted a freeman of the Plymouth Colony June 1, 1658.  For the
suceeding 18 years he appears to have lived a quiet retired life, on his
farm at Scorton Hill. . .During his life, he appears to have conveyed his
mill and his large real estate in Sandwich to his son THOMAS, and his W
Barnstable farm to WILLIAM, retaining his Scorton Hill farm and his
personal estate for his own use.  The latter farm he sold about the year
1675 to William Troop and removed to Boston...last days with a married
daughter, where he died in 1677 at an advanced age."

p 319:  "After his death his administrators, Capt. James Oliver, his
son-in-law, an eminent merchant of Boston, and his grandson, THOMAS,
of Sandwich. . .  and in 1695, after the death of THOMAS DEXTER ,3d,. . ."

p321:  "It is certain that he [Thomas Dexter SR.] had
I.  THOMAS, born in England, settled in Sandwich.
II.  MARY, who md Oct 1639, Mr. John Frend, who died young.
Before Aug 1655, as is shown bya deed in Suffolk Registry, she had md
Capt. James Oliver.  They left no children.
And he probably had
III. WILLIAM who settled in Barnstable.
IV.  FRANCIS, who md Richard Wooddy.  They had eight children.
They lived some years in Roxbury.  In 1695 Mary and Frances, who were
then widows brought the 4th suit in behalf of their father's claim upon
Nahant, against the town of Lynn, once more in vain."


Thomas WHITFIELD [Parents] was born 17 Sep 1822 in Broad Lee, West Allendale, Northumberland, Eng. and was christened 20 Oct 1822 in Ninebanks, West Allendale, Northumberland, Eng.. He died 29 Nov 1913 in Concession 12, Grey Twp., Huron Co., Ontario and was buried in Brussels Cem., Grey Twp., Huron Co., Ontario. Thomas married Jane.
