29 Aug 1839 parents Anna Cooper and Solomon Cox
married in Livingston County MO (Per John Farrell email)
18 Jan 1841 Born in Missouri .
Marries 1st: Deering
17 May 1865 Mary Alice Deering born. (Indian territory, Oklahoma)
18 Oct 1867 Grandison Theodore Deering born (Leavenworth, KS)
(1869) A Deering born, likely a daughter of Mary. Not proved. See 1887
5 Mar 1880 Carra (or Carrie) Deering born KS
7 Mar 1880 daughter Mary married Francis Marion Strange
4 Jul 1886 Marysville, Marshall,KS married Roland Y. Strange. (her daughter’s
father in law) Roland’s first wife, Matilda Gross died 10 Feb 1886. Flossie
Jessup note says Mary was a widow too.
1887: in Marysville, Marshall, KS cemetery where Roland’s first wife, Matilda
Strange is buried, there are two stones close to her. 10 feet from her stone is
a stone that says “infant son of F.M. & M.A Strange. (Marion and Mary Deering
Strange’s baby). Then just 4 feet behind that is a larger stone that says “A
Deering Died July 1887 18 yrs. We’ll miss you dear sister”
(Dave Minson note)This is strong circumstantial evidence to me that A Deering is Mary Deering’s sister Note: 1900 census indicates Mary had 7 children, 3 living, but the 1910 shows 4 children, 3 living. There is a pretty big gap between Grandison b. in 1867 and Carra in 1880 which would suggest 7 may be more correct. Perhaps she had 7 pregnancies with 4 children that lived until 18 yr old daughter A. Deering died, leaving the 3.
1893: "In 1893 they moved to a farm four miles west of Alton. There they resided until 1905, moving from there to Alton." This from "A card received from Sam Saville (which also) conveys the information of the death of Mr. R. Y. Strange on the 22d inst. at Alton, Osborne Co. Mr. Strange was one of the early settlers of Blue Rapids City Township and had attained the age of 82 years and 26 days.
Per obituary for Grandma Strange (Mary Lutitia Strange)... (Blue Rapids News 8/25/1908 as found by Sharon Capezza - net.)
14 Sep 1900 “The Marshall County Friends of R Y Strange will be pleased to learn of that gentleman’s success in a financial way in Osborne Co. as indicated by the following from the Alton Empire: “RY Strange has added another quarter section to his holdings. Carol Minson notes
In answer to my letter, the City Clerk of Alton, KS wrote: I contacted Carra Deering Hatfield, the step daughter of Rolan Strange, but she could not give me the information about father and mother's name. . . Carra thought he was born VA. 1-16-1958."
Maiden Name of Rolan Strange's 2nd wife: "MARY L. COX." Source correspondence with Flossie Jessup, Aug 19, 1962.
Comment: I am assuming Mary Cox was married # 1 to a Deering.
BIRTH: From Flossie Jessup, Aug 19, 1962. Also Mary's first marriage information.
MARRIAGE: 2nd Mg of Rolan Strange:" Mg to Mrs. M. L. Deering in 1886." (1 Feb 92: Letter from Helen Kracht, 506 Walnut St. Marysville, KA 66508).
This further substantiates the data I already had of Roland's mg to Mary Luticia Cox Deering 4 Jul 1886 at Marysville.

Economic and Social Progress 1815-1860--pages 134-149 of A HISTORY OF CANADA by Carl Wittke PhD. . ON THE MARGINS OF EMPIRE excerpts from History of Canada-- I've used some of it in Whitfield article. very valuable. WHI0114, 115, and 117. Mrs. Rutherford said that "Teasdale lived first near York" (now Toronto), Ontario Canada. I think this is questionable. Carol M Dalton English said he didn't see why TEASDEL SR. picked the farm he did as it was very poor land; "all stones" I believe he said. On the road between Fraserville and Millbrook, which would not have been too far from Asahel's farm, we saw large stones, 2-3 feet in diameter piled around the edges of the fields, possibly there from early days. No wonder it was said they "got tired of plowing up a new crop of stones every year." Is is therefore probable that the rest of the family went out at the same time but we have two sources indicating 1832 for William and Thomas so possibly Teasdale went out, scouted the situation and the others followed one year later. My interest is that some connection of the family presumably crossed between 1841 and 1851 since I can't envisage the children crossing only in the care of their brother William - though it is not impossible towards the latter end of the decade.
