E. MORRIS , Mar 1962: Did I ever tell you that I suspect that JOHN JR.,
(that would be John born 1819) WM & PERRY were with Quantrill.  There
were HAYS of that name with him and those 3 of ours were the only
members of the family left during the Civil War.  This could account for
the late marriages of WM & PERRY. Descendants of WM live at Grand
Island, Nebr. Quantrill was from Dover, Ohio, not too far from Harrison
Co.  This is hard to prove, but interesting to think about.

NOTE from Carol Minson, Aug 26, 1997.  As I am typing up this
1950-1960 manuscript of Eugenia's,  I can't help wondering why some of
the children would call themselves "HAYS" and other siblings in same
family are termed  "HAYS or HAYES".   By any chance were there two
families of  "HAYS or HAYES" in that area at that time?  Eugenia Morris
did this research.  She did excellent work.  But this  "HAYS or HAYES" is
confusing to me.

I am so happy to have her data, and I do want to make it available to
other HAYS descendants.  I have arranged the events chronologically and
have edited a few other things.  If you have questions regarding this
material, you can (sometimes) contact me at: 1-(602) 813-0393.
