Williamsport, VA (now WV) from 1796 till 1801 when he moved to OH

Cornelius was mortally wounded by a falling tree.  "His daughter Polly
went to the woods. . .took him by the arm and assisted him to the house.
He suffered 24 hours, then ceased to live."
"Polly was, at an early age, (14) religiously impressed, and resolved to
seek the favor of God.  She was sent to Marietta, OH to attend school. She
boarded with a Presbyterian family."  She  was a staunch Methodist.

COURT RECORDS:  JOHN HOUGLAND was guardian for his younger brother,
Lewis (14-15) in April 1827.
(This was after their mother, Anna Stallcup's death in 1824.)

Cornelius Hougland owned 480 acres, west(?)  of Wolf Creek.  After his
death, it was divided into 1/8 lots for his 8 children.   JOHN HOUGLAND
bought ELZA'S 1/8th for $180.  JOHN is living on that land in 1828.

Comment:I wonder what happened to Margaret Hougland's 1/8th.

Mary said she remembered TWO PALMER headstones.  The Headstones
were crumbling and had been laid together by the mowing crew-township
trustees.  She couldn't find the two Palmer headstones.  Does she have
pictures of them? (I have a note that says "Mary Yost has the gravestone

somewhat readable.

Two page history of William George and Mary Dexter Richardson by  great
granddaughter, Sue Brandyberry, filed in Sue's file in  a July 31, 1991
envelope.  Excerpts follow:
Eight children--all had families of their own.  Frank, the oldest, had
children by two wives, after a divorce from the first. . .before the turn
of the century.
Harry did not marry until he was 40.  Raised 5 children, incl twins,
celebrated 50th wedding anniv & 90th birthday!
The Richardson children were all born in Marshall Co.  Most of them lived
in Kansas all their life.  Mabel moved to Michigan after mg and lived
there until her death.  Ase lived his last 21 years in OK.  The rest lived
mostly and died in nw KS.   .  .  .
WG and Mary lived in Marshall Co., KS from 1870-1892, then moved to
Lincoln Co., KS.
In 1907 they moved to Hill City, in Graham Co., KS where they built a
new house and where WG celebrated his 60th birthday.   He died in 1926,
age 78.  She died there in 1938 at the age of 90 of a heart attack.
A Swank cousin states. . .Grandma Richardson...late 1920's [had] the most
beautiful furniture and dishes, but that Mary was 'terribly poor' will
little food or heat.    Apparently she did not sell any of the furniture or
dishes to help make ends meet, as there are many heirlooms to enjoy
today.
Their "new house" is still standing today, 1991, at 3rd and Hill, just
south of the "Dawson Place", a nursing home.   It is still attractive and
looks... received good care.
The 8 children of WG and Mary produced 44 grandchildren, born between
1896 and 1930.  Three were born after WG's death.  Great-grand-children
number 101.  Only about 1/10th could have seen their great-grandpa
before his death and less than half were born before Mary died.  The
101st was not born until 1978.  Quite a time span for one generation! The
oldest 2nd cousin was born 59 years before the youngest." Sue
Brandyberry, 639 Courtleigh Drive, Wichita, KS, 67218.
