BESSE' WAS A PASSENGER FOR NEW ENGLAND ON THE JAMES, AGE STATED
AS 26. HE DIED IN SANDWICH, MA SHORTLY BEFORE 21 MAY 1657, THE
DATE OF INVENTORY OF HIS ESTATE. HE IS FIRST MENTIONED IN PLYMOUTH
court records in 1638 for 'living alone disorderly and afterwards for
taking in an inmate without order.' He married about 1638, JANE____.
His will, dated 10 Feb 1656/7 and proved 3 June 1657 [Plymouth Colony
Wills, see The Mayflower Descendant, 14:152] names his wife Jane,
daughters DORCAS, ANN, MARY, JANE and ELIZABETH, and sons NEHEMIAH

His widow Jane married the notorious George Barlow befor 4 March
1661/2, as shown by a Plymouth Colony Court record of that date. . .
Her will made 6 Aug 1693. In it she names her sons John and Nathan
Barlow, Nehemiah Besse, daus Rebecca Hunter, Ann Hallet and Elizabeth
Bodfish.. . .Dorcas, Mary, Jane and David were probably deceased.

By her second husband, George Barlow, JANE widow of ANTHONY BESSE
had at least two children, John Barlow and Nathan Barlow, according to
her will [The Mayfloer Descendant, 19:44.]
