pg 13:  "FRANCES DEXTER, dau of THOMAS DEXTER SR., born in England.. . .She married Sergeant Richard Woodee,* Jr., son of Richard and Annie Woodee, in 1647, and they had eight children born in Roxbury, Mass.  The Records say that the father and Samuel, Richard, Mary, Martha and Elizabeth were dismissed to Third Church, Boston, in 1673."

p.14:"  ABIGAIL  DEXTER, . . . md. Jonathan HALLETT (30 June, 1683-4), the
son of ANDREW HALLETT, JR., of Yarmouth.  ( He was age 37, she was 20.)
After the death of his father (Mar 1683-4,) JONATHAN removed to
Yarmouth  and was the wealthiest man in that town.  He was constable in
1684.  They lived in the same house with his mother until her death in
1695, when he built a new house.  He was not an educated man, but
succeeded in getting together considerable property for those times.  He
died 14 Jan 1716-7, aged 69; his wife died 12 Sep 1715, aged 52, and
they were both buried in the old burying-ground at Yarmouth.  They had
nine children, all born at Yarmouth:"

Stephen DEXTER [Parents] was born May 1657 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA. He died Sep 1741 in Providence, See Notes, RI. Stephen married Ann SAUNDERS on 27 Apr 1696 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA.

p. 11-12:  "He  [WILLIAM DEXTER] was one of a party of 30, which included
such men as William Bradford. . .who became the grantees of the town of
Rochester [Plymouth, MA.]   When he died he owned considerable land both
in Barnstable and in Rochester which he gave to his children, as follows:
JAMES, THOMAS, and JOHN DEXTER had the Rochester [Mass] lands, while
STEPHEN, PHILIP and BENJAMIN DEXTER had the Barnstable land.  The
children all went to Rochester except PHILIP, who removed to Falmouth,
Mass, and STEPHEN, who remained in Barnstable and who was the only
one of the name in the town in 1703."

"Dexter, Stephen, of PR, joiner.  Will dated 6 Sep 1741, proved 19 Oct
1741, pp9-10.  Mentions wife Mehetibel Dexter. Father-in-law Ebenezer
Knight.  Son Knight Dexter under 21.  Dau Naomi Dexter under 21.  Brother
John Dexter.  Witn. Joseph Angell, Lydia Angell, Geo. Browne."

Ann SAUNDERS married Stephen DEXTER on 27 Apr 1696 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA.


Philip DEXTER [Parents] was born Sep 1659 in Barnstable, Barnstable, MA. He died 1741. Philip married Alice ALLEN on 1700 in Salmouth, , Massachusetts.

Portsmouth, RI."

John TRIPP [Parents] was born 1575 in Skirbeck, Lincolnshire, England. He died in before 19 Jul 1648.   John married Isabel MOYSES  30 Jul 1609   in Horkstow, Lincolnshire , England

from WFT was 1610.

John Tripp, b. Horkstow, Lincolnshire, ENG; d. after 11 Feb 1629 (youngest daughter christened) and before 19 Jul 1648 (dau. Elizabeth died, and the burial record reads d/o "Isabel Tripp, widow."
m. 30 Jul 1609, Horkstow, Isabel Moyses, chr. 20 Mar 1584, Horkstow, d/o Nicholas Moyses (Nicholas bur. 11 Jun 1609, Horkstow); Isabel bur. 4 Nov 1654, Horkstow.

The marriage is recorded in the parish register as "John Tripp & Elizabeth Moyses," but in the bishop's transcript it is written "John Tripp & Ezabell Moyses." John Tripp the Founder, in his autobiography, says he was born in Horkstow, the s/o John Tripp and Isabel Moyses. Moreover his sister Elizabeth is christened as "d/o John Tripp," but buried as "d/o Isabel Tripp, widow." There is also the burial record of Isabel Tripp. All of these things combine to show that the "Elizabeth" written in the parish register was an error.
