Nor did the original Ninebanks parish register at Ninebanks from which I

JOSEPH WHITFIELD was born 1790 and would have been about 49 years
old in 1839.  His wife, Sarah Martin listing in census indicate she was
born about 1791.  Joseph and Sarah married in 1814.  I think that month
old baby could have been theirs.  Also it possibly was illegitimate baby
of their dau Elizabeth age 23 in 1839.

("Meeting House is [was?] near Carrshield at Coal Cleugh."  Marina, Did I
get that right?)

1821 minus age 5=1816.  This child appears to be the son of Joseph and
Sarah because:
l.  There is a gap in children from 1814 to 1820.
2.  The first child was born 1814 at Middle Side.  The third child born
1820 was born at Meeting House of Wolf Cleugh.  So the birth of John
Whitfield 1816, Meeting House- place fits with Joseph and Sarah
Whitfield.
3.  They did name another child "John" b 1825.
4.  It all fits.  And it feels right.

Sarah Whitfield of Nook born and died in 1839.  A daughter of Sarah
Martin  and Joseph#917 Whitfield?  I think it could have been.  They
lived at the NOOK from (at least) 25 Sep 1825-when son John was born
there--until father-Joseph #917 died 5 Jul 1841.   Sarah and Joseph
Whitfield are the only Whitfield's listed at the Nook in the 1841 census.

Widowed Sarah at 60 is still at the Nook in 1851 census with 4 unmd
children.  I don't see her in the 1861 census.
Be aware of the time gap in children!  Ten years since previous child...and
this would make a 25 year span of childbearing.  That's a long time.  But
it's possible.  (I had a late life baby, after a nine year gap; and a  23 year
span of childbearing.  It's possible.  Now at 65 we have two sons at the
University and  find it.....wonderful!)

JOSEPH WHITFIELD was born 1790.  His wife, Sarah Martin was born abt
same time- (1841 and 1851 Census indicates she was born about 1791.)
They married in 1814.    That month old baby could have been theirs. They
would have been about 49 years old in 1839.
Also it is a possibility their eldest dau b 1814 had a child out of
wedlock.
