Moses HAYS [Parents] was born 17 Nov 1760 in Greenwich Twp, Sussex, Now Warren, NJ. He died 4 Aug 1837 in Smith Twp, Washington Co., PA and was buried in Cross Creek, Presby G. Y, Washington Co., PA.. Moses married Jemimah PETERSON about 1783 in Greenwich, Sussex, New Jersey.

"Moses Hays, born 11/17/1760 in Greenwich Twp, Sussex Co. New Jersey.
died 8/4/1837, a few days before his wife in Smith Twp., Washington Co.
PA.  He was a soldier of the Revolution, married in 1783 to Jemima
Peterson, a native of New Jersey, born 10/2/1765. died 7/10/1837, a
few days after her husband.  Both buried at Cross Creek U.P. Graveyard,
Cross Creek, Washington Co., PA.  Smith Twp.   11 Children all born and
reared in Wash Co. Pa., except 1st- Thomas."

"Moses Hays, the son of David Hays 1 of Smith Township, was born in
New Jersey and after partially learning the blacksmith's trade, was
drafted at the age of 16 into the Continental Army and with five of his
brothers, served during that contest.  He was employed as regimental
blacksmith until the close of his term of service.  During the battle at
Germantown in 1777 his brother John who was a lieutenant, received a
wound which soon afterward caused his death.
After the war, in 1783, Moses was married to Jemima Peterson also
of New Jersey. (He was 23, she was 18.)  Then in 1783 also, along with
his brothers, Moses went west ot join his father and brothers in settling
1,000 acres of land located about 3 1/2 miles southeast of
Burgettstown, Washingon Co., PA, on Raccoon Creek.  The brothers
divided that land among themselves and Moses made a permanent home
upon a 100 acre portion.
Moses Hays possessed a remarkable retentative memory in his later
years.  He easily recalled incidents of the Revolutionary War for more
than fifty years after the conflict.  Anything he had seen or heard he
never forgot and the subject was easily brought to mind whenever it
arose.
He was a prominent and successful farmer.  In religion he was a
member of the Raccoon Church during the Ministry of Rev. Moses Allen,
his personal friend."

Carol communicated with a M. L. Hayes at Midland Genealogical Society,
Grace A. Dow Memorial Library, 1710 West St. Andrews, Midland,
Michigan, 48640-2698  Sep-Oct 1999.  She did work for Pat Preston.  I
sent her pedigree chart of Edith Hays 967 back to  David Hays 966; also
ped chart  of Moses Hays 2111-- back to David Hays 966.  Also notes for
Jane Hayes #962  and a fGR for David Hayes Jr 2318.

(E. Morris:14 typed pages of ms in 8 x 11 brown envelope.   Looks like
early research which E Morris did.  She has a page of David Hays 1 and 6
children--some speculations.  I have not added that page as yet--Aug
1998.  Felt I needed further verification.   The brown envelope is
addressed to E. Morris with a return from Mrs. Max Lucas, Coffeyville,
KS.)

-----------------------------------------
"David Hays II (md 1st to Edith Hays)  md 2n to Eleanor by time of 1850
Vinton Co. Ohio Census.  At that time he was a shoemaker."
"Vinton Co. Ohio, Richland Twp. 3600 Elk Twp. 129, also McArthurstown
2-190."
(E. Morris:14 typed pages of ms in 8 x 11 brown envelope.   Looks like
early research which E Morris redid.  See below. )

1850 or before, DAVID HAYS, JR. md 2nd ELEANOR.

Probably MRS. ELEANOR BRANCH as there were two girls named
BRANCH in the McArthur 1850 census with them. I don't know what
happened to 2nd wife & step-daus, but DAVID JR. is in the
1860 Census of ILL twice.  He is at Homer, Champaign, Co., ILL with
youngest son SAMUEL & family-----3 months later with his dau,
ELIZABETH (& family) at Fairmont, Vermillion Co., ILL.  Homer &
Fairmont are only 9 miles apart.  The cem between contains many
of EDITH'S desc.
1869  DAVID JR. d and is buried in a family cem near Muncie in
Vermillion Co Ill, with oldest son, JOHN & family.

1998 April:  E-mail from Phyllis Stewart
to Jean Pyle
"David #1 had a son MOSES who had a dau EDITH, who md DAVID HAYS of

EDITH (3) HAYS (MOSES 2, DAVID 1)
1786 Feb 27, EDITH HAYS b  in New Jersey, or Smith twp., Washington
Co., PA.
1786, probably moved to Smith twp., Wash. Co., PA with parents.

1807-8 EDITH HAYS m. DAVID HAYES of Ohio./or was it Cross Creek PA?
1810 & 1830 They lived at Cr. Cr.Twp., Washington Co. PA
1820 They lived at Smith Twp, Washington Co. PA (1820 census: they
probably had 2 more daughters who died young.)
1830-soon after, they left PA and lived in Gurensey Co. Ohio for abt 3 yr.

Then moved to McArthur and are in
1840 census in McArthur (Athens Co.)
1845 EDITH HAYS HAYES died (age 60) at McArthur, Ohio.  (McArthur was
in Athens Co in 1840--in Vinton Co in 1850.)  She was buried Colvin Cem.there.

(Much of last 3 lines came from ancestral file-1977)

E. Morris:  "THOS(3) HAYS m JANE HAYES.
EDITH HAYS  m DAVID HAYES of OHio.
Probably the HAYES were bro & sister also."

E. Morris wrote Nov 1969: "The research for the Hays history has been

EDITH (HAYS) HAYS were all born in Cross Creek or Smith twps.,
Washington Co., PA.  I found the baptism of the last four at Cross Creek
Presb. Church a few years ago.  EDITH had 12 children, but two of the
girls died young.

was the son of DAVID HAYS, SR,(d 1832), of Cross Creek twp."

E. MORIS wrote Dec 1970. . ."Edith who m. David Hays of Ohio..we found

Indiana since 1825.  EDITH is buried at McArthur Ohio."

youngest had 9."

E. MORRIS, March 1, 1972:  "You are probably descended from two DAVID

FRANCIS COOK(4) HAYS, (EDITH 3, MOSES 2, DAVID 1)
1786, COOK'S mother, EDITH  moved to Smith twp., Wash. Co., PA
parents. in 1786-her birth year.
1807-abt EDITH HAYS md DAVID HAYES.

1814-abt, FRANCIS COOK HAYS born  in Washington Co. Pa. either at
Cross Creek or Smith  townships.
Reported to have gone south, but may be the one who had dau,
MARY b 1865 in Iowa.  She always lived with HUGH HAYS (bro of

FRANCIS COOK HAYS)
1869  When his father died, FRANCIS COOK HAYS deceased.
  M v Moses HAYS was born 4 May 1816 and died 13 Nov 1856.
M vi William HAYS was born 27 May 1817 and died 29 Nov 1885.
M vii Hugh HAYS was born 15 Aug 1818.
M viii Jedediah HAYS was christened 18 Oct 1820 and died after 1869.
M ix Cyrus HAYS was born 5 May 1826 and died before 1869.
  M x Samuel HAYS was born 12 Mar 1830 and died 11 Mar 1880.

James (Carl) Carroll HAGUE [Parents] [scrapbook] was born 18 Dec 1854 in Plymouth, Washington, Ohio. He died after Apr 1909 and was buried in Benett Cem, Warner, Muskogee, Oklahoma. James married Clarabelle PRUITT on 14 Feb 1877 in Stockton, Cedar, Missouri.

1854 Dec 18:  James Carroll (Carl) Hague born at Plymouth, Washington
Co. Ohio.  (Cornelia Hague, his sister, wrote: "All of us children were born at Plymouth, Wash, OH, except Rosa who was b in Brookfield, MO.")

1868: The Hague family moved to Brookfield Mo,then to Grant City MO.

1874: Oct Marriage of Carl's sister, Anna Zeanette Hague, in Linn Twp., Bates Co. MO. to Andrew Hays.  (brother's md sisters.)

1870:  census Baker Twp., Linn Co. Mo.  JAMES Carroll HAGUE age 17 is
with his parents John and Ansina Hague.  He was child #3

1878 Feb 14: Marriage of James Carroll (Carl) Hague at Stockton, Cedar, MO to Clara PRUITT.  Carl Hague 23,  Clara Belle 19.

1878 Nov 11: son GEORGE ORA HAGUE born Cedar Co. MO.  (he was tallest.)
George's 50th* write-up says:  "Mr. Hague was b in Cedar Co Mo in 1878,
living there until 1892. . ."   (contrast this with Geo's son Joe who says his dad was born in Dade Co.   and Minnie, sister to Geo, her obit say she was born Dade Co.  Dade Co borders Cedar Co on the north.)

1880 June 7-10: Pleasant Gap Twp. Bates Co. Missouri
James Hague 26
Clara       22  b Wisconsin
Ora          1  b MO
next door is James' eldest sister, Nettie (Hague) Hays

1880:  James parents are in Hudson Twp,Bates Co. MO.
1882 Aug 5:  JOHN HARRISON HAGUE born Cedar Co MO.  (*see Geo's 50th)

1884:  Carl's sister Cornelia & William Hays move to Cozad, Dawson, NE.
1884-5: Carl's parents,  John & Ansina move to Cozad, NE
1885 Jun 9: VERNON ORVAL HAGUE  born Cedar Co MO. (*see Geo's 50th)..
1887:  John & Ansina move to Sterling,Logan,CO & homested 10mi N.

It looks like Clara Belle may have lost a baby between first two
children-- 1878-1882 and likely between 1885 -1889.  That would
explain even more why  her folks "didn't want her to move to Oklahoma."

1889 April 22:  OK LAND RUN-Opening of Territory, 50,000 settlers!

1889 AUG 8: dau,  MINNIE S. HAGUE born Cedar Co MO. (*see Geo's 50th)..

1892:  James Hague family "Moved to Indian Territory, Tulsa, Oklahoma."
George's 50th* write-up says:  "Mr. Hague was b in Cedar Co Mo in 1878,
living there until 1892 when he moved with his parents to Tulsa, IT".

1892-4:  Picture taken of James Carroll Hague family.
("Hague- Warner IT." on back.)

1895 Feb 9:  CLARA BELLE died age 36.  Buried at Tulsa  acc to Beaulah
Hague. Husband, James Carl Hague is 40.

Picture of Della Hague and Rosa Belle Hague says: "Mr. J. C. Hague. Your
two loving sisters from Belle."  Sounds consoling and only to "Mr."
Probably sent after Clara Belle's death.

1900: Census  I finally found George Ora and family.  The census taker had written his first name as Warren instead of George.  I know I've got the right fellow, though, because the rest of the family matches perfectly. Brother Vernon O. was also living with George.  They were in the Osage Nation, Indian Territory, OK.  (Pat Mandeville)

1900: Minnie (dau) is with grandparents Pruitts in Cedar Co. Mo. census
1910:  ditto

1904: James father, John Hague, dies in Sterling Co. John Hague's obit states: "James of Mounds Indian Territory."

1909: James C. Hague died  abt age 54.

Letter from cemetery caretaker at Warner, Aug 25, 1977:
James Carl Hague was "Mrs. Mamie Saylors Step Dad. There isn't a tomb
the only thing she knew that he passed away in 1909.  I am Mrs. Saylors
cousin and we take care of the Cemetery.  He was buried at Bennett
Cemetery. She said this the only record she could give you.  She is 79 yrs old Mrs. H. L Davis, Box 61, Warner OK 74469."

"He died after his sister, SALLY( HAGUE) BOWLIN died  April 1909.  He is
buried at Warner, Okla." said  Beaulah Hale, g, dau.

No death certif at Oklahoma City.

Correspondence with HATTIE STAIB, dau of George Ora Hague,
She gave mg date and place for husb (JAMES CARROLL HAGUE)
and  b and d date of wife.

It looks like Clarabelle may have lost a baby between first two children

more why she moved close to her folks and why her folks "didn't want
