DEATH:  Obit from Morgan Co., Ohio Democrat names her as twin to Jane, child # 9

They had the following children:

  F i Margaret H. J. HOPKINS was born Oct 1870 and died 1948.

Doctor Chauncy HAGUE [Parents] was born 3 Sep 1842 in Chesterhill, Morgan, Ohio. He died 5 Jan 1916 in Nr Old Leverton, Linn, MO and was buried in Bear Branch Cem, Linn, MO. Doctor married Isabelle Jones BURROUGHS on 13 May 1875 in Brookfield, Linn, Missouri.

1842 Sep 8: DOCTOR CHAUNCY HAGUE born at Athens Co. OH, said his obit. Discrepancy on place of birth.   Death record at Linn Co., M0. Funeral Home stated his birthplace was  Chesterhill, Morgan Co. OH.
I chose Athens Co. OH because of following:
In 1840 Chester Hill (Marion Twp?) was in Athens Co.  In 1845 Chesterhill and  Marion Twp became part of  Morgan Co. OH.  Chester Hill (also called Chesterfield)
Chesterhill to Bartlett abt 6 mi.  Chesterhill to Palmer Twp abt 14 mi. Chesterhill to Sharpsburg abt 5 mi.
May 1984 C.Minson sent $2.00 to Elmer Gerlach of McConnelsville, OH to check Morgan Co Grantor-Grantee Indexes to see if a Reuben Hague had land in Morgan Co..  He checked 1795-1855, & 1856 to 1895 Grantor and Grantee Indexes and found none.
I'm wondering if I have assumed that most of Reuben Hague's children were born on S29 T7  R12 of Athens C?.   John and Ansina Hague are listed in Chesterhill, Marion Twp, Morgan Co. in the 1860 census with their first 5 children, possibly all born there.
Do I have any other death records of Reuben's children that might show a birth place? answer:  Reuben Jr has biog in Birdsall and Dean that says he was born Athens Co., as does his obit.  Sister Sarah's Morgan Co obit states: " b near Sharpsburg, Athens Co, OH, Mar 8, 1840."  Twin sister Jane's Linn Co Mo. obit states  she was born Athens Co. OH.

CONFLICT of  NAME of  THOMAS "E"  or  THOMAS WESLEY    MAXWELL

(As of Oct 30, 2002 C. Minson leans to Thomas "E" Maxwell, since most of
of  data available  leans that way.  Marriage and death records are primary sources.   The probate of May 20, 1861 below, is also a primary source,

IF it is a copy of the original---which it is not in this instance.).

1890 Aug 18:  Julia Hague md THOMAS E. MAXWELL.
1900:  Census says THOMAS E. MAXWELL.
1920: Census says THOMAS E. MAXWELL.
1934 Sep 13:  Fannie Maxwell's death record gives husbands name as    "T. E.  MAXWELL!"

Looking through source material on Julia and Thomas I came across something puzzling  in my handwriting:: "Robert Maxwell of Linn Co, MO.
Feb 4 1861:  140 acres.  Wife Catherine.  3 children:  Robert Findley,  Lucinda, and THOMAS WESLEY.  Probate May 20, 1861.

Witnesses Samuel P. Maxwell and Isaac Lambert."

And yet, the  two censuses, 1900 and 1920 clearly say   THOMAS E. MAXWELL.  And in the 1900 and 1910 census  THOMAS  E. MAXWELL is living next door to the very people mentioned in the probate above. Catharine Maxwell, Lucinda Maxwell, and R. F. Maxwell.

There most certainly is a strong tie here between Thomas E. Maxwell and R.F. Maxwell and Cindy (Lucinda).  With the probate listing those three names and the appearance of all three and the mother Catharine, in two different censuses next to each other----I can't see any room for doubt.  Thomas E. Maxwell and Robert Findley Maxwell and Lucinda (Cindy) Maxwell must have been siblings. So WHY the "Wesley" as a middle name for Thomas?   Did he himself vacillate between “E” and “Wesley”?  It's weird.  C. Minson.
