Ephraim and to this union were born four sons, C.T.   T.H.  W.T. and C.A.HAGUE.
The wife and all the boys survive him, the boys are all married  & live in this county, (Noble.)  Chris was known far and near by the blooded horses he used to keep.  He had in past years been an extensive dealer in fine horses.  He was also one of our best farmers.  But a few years ago he urned all of his business interest over to his boys ahnd retired from the activities of this life.  He was taken seriously ill about three days previous to his death. It is said by his neighbors that his last word were words of prayer.  Chris will be missed as much as any man that has died in our community, for many years.  He was a goodcitizen, a generous neighbor and a kind father".

John HAGUE was born about 1710. He died before 27 Mar 1767 in Of Chester Co, PA. John married Elizabeth about 1745.

THE McCOMBS FAMILY,  SLFHL: 929.273. M134 ms. p. 55-59, 61.  by Sarah Amanda McComb 1859-1942

p.56:  "William Hague (b abt 1746), son of JOHN HAGUE and ELIZABETH. Lived in Chester Co. (PA)  in 1747."
p.56: "On Mar 27, 1767, ELIZABETH  renounced her rights to administer estate and letters were granted her son, William Hague to administer the estate."

p.53: "Grandmother (Hannah Hague) McComb (1787-1877) told us of her 'Haige Quaker' ancestor being the surveyor who helped lay out the City of Philadelphia." Sarah Amanda McComb 1859-1942

p.58:   "Family history of Hannah Hague McComb (1787-1887) also, that her father William Hague (1746-1843) was a descendant of William Haigue (1646-1688) who came to Pennsylvania with Penn's followers (1681?)  and helped to lay out the City of Philadelphia. He came with the first Quakers (1681?) that came to Pennsylvania."

p. 47, 55 &  56: "Hannah Hague was d/o William and Ruth (Mendenhall) Hague both from Chester Co. PA"
(Yes, Hannah Hague McComb did live almost to 100 years old, so she would have been  72  when Sarah McComb was born in 1859.)  " Hannah was born Dec 22, 1787 in Chester Co, PA on Brandywine Battlefield-  Married Jan 12, 1811 (age 24) in Uniontown, PA.  Died Jan  20, 1887 in Napa, CA. Buried in Napa City, Cemetery."

See notes for ????? Hague b abt 1676.  Those notes when sorted, may throw more light on this John Hague.

Jan Walker wrote on her FGR:
"John Hague settled in Lambertville, NJ in 1699."  from THE GENEALOGY
OF THE DARLINGTON FAMILY PUBLISHED IN WEST CHESTER, PA, 1900. filed
in HAGUE Book #1, under Isaac Hague.  HAG0030

COMMENT:  The above "JOHN HAGUE" MAY BE THE FATHER OF THE JOHN
HAGUE b abt 1710, who md Elizabeth.  NEEDS FURTHER RESEARCH. AND IT
SEEMS POSSIBLE AND PLAUSIBLE THAT A JOHN HAGUE b abt 1677  would
"settle in Lambertville, NJ in 1699."
(Maybe he was son of William and Mary [Laurie] Hague;
or possibly an illegitimate son of William Hague?)

Perhaps JOHN HAGUE b  abt 1710 WAS BORN in Lambertville, NJ.
How can we find out?

(When we lived in NJ in 1986 and 1987,  WHY didn't I look for HAGUE'S at
Rutgers University Libe Special Collections??)

"TO DO'S":

1.  There is a Chester Co. PA,  Tax List for 1768, 131 pp, listed in Library
Acquistions of the  Western PA Gen Soc Quarterly in the spring 1990
issue.    Call WPGS:  (412) 681-5533 and find if there are any HAGUES in
the index.  There should be.  Very likely there will be additional ones to
the ones we have.

2.  Sons of Revolution has a book:  CHESTER CO. PA,  by Everts 1881.  Now
that we know the Hague's were in Kennet Twp.,  Pennsbury Twp.,
Birmingham Twp., and Oxford Twp., Chester Co.   from AT LEAST
1765-1790 (probably much earlier,) that book should be checked further.
As well as other Chester Co PA histories and records.

Chester Co was an original county,  created 1682 . (Early!)  Wonder if
there are TOWN RECORDS available?

And what does SLFHL have on Chester Co.? Burial records?  We know
there are wills available. Write and ask.  SL (Salt Lake) films are
probably our best and easiest repository.

Detailed Notes  Compiled by Carol Minson 2002

Rebecca JEFFERIS was born 10 Oct 1786 in Fayette Co., PA. She died 11 Mar 1850 in South Union Twp, Fayette, PA and was buried in Sandy Hill Cem, Uniontown, Fayette, PA. Rebecca married Isaac HAGUE on 26 Mar 1807 in Fayette Co., PA.

Obit indicates she was born 1763.  However the date of 10 Oct 1786
which came from Gilbert Cope history below,   is more likely.  (Her
husband, Isaac was born 1784, so she probably wasn't born 23 years
before him.)  Am assuming the obit was wrong on her age of 87.
