"John Hague (Wm's father) came to Chester Co. Pa about 1747 from Holland." Mrs. Kimber (Perhaps Mrs. Kimber interpreted this from THE McCOMB fAMILY p 58 which has a blatant error. It says William (b 1646-1688) son of David Haig and Hibernia Scholes. . .served as a private in. . .Chester Co PA Militia under Capt Joseph Mendenhall.. ."
ERROR! The William who served as a private in Chester Co PA Militia wasn't born until 1746, a hundred years later than the William b 1646-1688 who was son of David Haig and Hibernia Scholes...
Mrs.Kimber says
p. 47 & 56 "John Hague (b abt 1710- [Wm's father]) came to Chester Co. Pa about 1747 from
Holland. p__ ?" From Holland? Perhaps Mrs. Kimber has made an assumption from pg 47 and 57 of McCOMB'S FAMILY HISTORY.
Disclaimer by McComb on p. 58 of McCOMB'S FAMILY HISTORY. says: "David Haige (of mid 1600's pg 49) spent a part of his early life in Holland. . .This is probably where the Hagues of Holmes and Wayne Counties in OH had their records that William Hague (b 1746-1843_ and Ruth Mendenhall were from Holland."
_p.58: "Family history of Hannah Hague McComb (1787-1887) also, that William Hague her father (1746-1843) was a descendant of William Haigue (1646-1688) who came to Pennsylvania with Penn's followers and helped to lay out the City of Philadelphia. He came with the first Quakers that came to Pennsylvania."

(COMMENT: I wonder if "E. Springfield, OH" is an error? C.M. I also suspect the middle initial J of William b 1746 is an error. The Darlington version proposed that his name might have been William John Hague. I don't think Darlington accounted for his brother, who was named "John." (Recheck.) The two brothers lived close to one another, apparently migrated west together, until John died in 1802.

ACTION: Look for an obituary on him. Might be one, if there was a paper. Check Anita Cheek Milner's list of Ohio newspapers.
Evelyn Van Noy wrote Dec 1977: "I have a small amount of data on the Hagues taken from the book "McComb Family History by Sarah McCombs. .privately printed (in) 30's. . .only a few copies. Most of the information is about the immigrant WILLIAM HAGUE (some records HAIG) who came toPA with PENN ca 1681/2. He was surveyor and laid out the plan for the streets of Philadelphia. . .also one of original proprietors of East Jersey,b in Bemersyde, Scotland and died 1688 in Burlington, West Jersey. He had at least 4 ch. but the data is rather unclear. My line is from John Hague (either a son or grandson of above Wm). If any of your Hagues were from PA (Chester, Delaware or Fayette Co's); or Ohio (Holmes,
Wayne, Crawford Co's); or Indiana (my data mostly from St. Joseph Co.),perhaps I have something you can use. I have found very little data on the Hague family other than what is in the book."

ACTION:
l. Look for Holmes Co, OH obit on William Hague.
2. Get 1840 Census of Ber Twp., Wayne Co, OH, for Wm Hague p.211. Is
he 94 years old, or is this a son/grandson?
3. Find 1880 census on Hannah Hague McCombs. She died in 20 Jan 1887 a few months short of age 100, in Napa, Napa, CA. Where did she say her father and mother were born?
4. Need Chester Co PA county history.
Sons of Revolution has a book: CHESTER CO. PA, by Everts 1881. The Hague's were in Kennet Twp., Pennsbury Twp, Birmingham Twp, and Oxford Twp, Chester Co. PA, from AT LEAST 1747 to 1790 (probably much earlier,) that book should be checked further. As well as other Chester Co PA histories and records.
5. Chester Co was an original county, created 1682 . (Early!) Wonder if there are TOWN RECORDS available?
6. Need to check all Chester Co Probate. at SL?
7. And what does SLFHL have on Chester Co.? Burial records? We know there are wills available. See FHLC. SL (Salt Lake) films are probably our best and easiest repository.
8. What Genealogical Society is closest to Chester Co? They are most likely to have burial records. A Philadelphia Gen Soc might be helpful.
9. It appears that we need to check Cumberland Co. PA for further info on JOHN HAGUE because of: "1768-1770 CUMBERLAND CO. PA tax list of Hopewell Rate JOHN HAGUE p 34." Any other Hagues there?
