1810- BIRTH & PLACE:
"WILLIAM WHITFIELD was born at Black Cleugh Dec 15th, 1810." From a
xeroxed copy of William Whitfield Family Records: "a thick vellum
sheet which came to me in the old Whitfield bible from Queen Anne's
time," wrote Barbara Stewart, 530 Stewart 12th Line, R.R.3, Cavan,
Ontario, Canada, sent to Carol 10/5/91.

"Later William acquired adjoining property and also owned 200 ac of land
just east of Mt. Pleasant, N 1/2 Lots 14,and 15, Conc. 13. The same
census mentions William's eldest son, Thomas, and his wife Jane
Gardiner. He was a teacher and also a carpenter, reportedly having built
Whitfield's School where he taught for over 20 years. It is not known if
they had any children as this was a late marriage." Pg 446.

his two sons. North half of lot 14 and 15, Conc. 13 to his wife
WHI0121. Luella Kennedy, gdau., says, "My grandfather was a strong
worker in the Methodist Church, also his sons and daughters after him."
Misc: "Black Cleugh is between Small Burns and Farney Shield" says
Marina, a resident of Farney Shields in 1990. The reprint of 1867
Ordnance Survey Map, sheet 5, indicates that Black Cleugh is about one
half mile south of Farney Shield and one half mile north of Small Burns.
All three places are in West Allendale, Northumberland, England.

1880-DEATH: WHI0120, Cemetery, Old Gardiner Cem., Millbrook,
Ontario, Durham Co., 8 Mar 1880 age 67. This would mean a birthdate of
1813 not 1810. In E. Dex. Notebook p 24. Cem. located north of
Millbrook, Cavan Twp., Durham Co., Canada. Cem. Also called "Old
