Dave's Roots and Branches

Walton WHITFIELD [Parents] was christened 31 Mar 1820 in Alston, Cul. He married Jane WAILES on 6 Apr 1829 in Alston, Cul.

Dr. Jeanette Barraclough Young of Sussex, England has done extensive
research on the Whitfield line.  Carol Minson has 1977 Notes of her
research, including three pedigree charts.  (I have rechecked a great deal
of her work and find it accurate---with few exceptions.)  WHI0199.

Dr. Youngs letter of  23 Feb 1977 included a pedigree chart showing this
child.

There is a Walton Whitfield=JANE in 1841 A'Dale census, age 20, md.,
living next door to John#915 Whitfield and Hannah at Broad Lee. ( census
page 11).  I THINK he is likely the WALTON WHITFIELD  b 1816, son of
George and Mary Cuzen Whitfield.  If so, then John#915 is the Uncle of
Walton.

However, there is another WALTON WHITFIELD =JANE in 1861 A'Dale
census, age 44, with  5 children.  NOTE,  Wife Jane born" CUL!"
I SUSPECT  THIS WALTON WHITFIELD is son of Nicholas Whitfield and
Elizabeth Walton of Alston and is the #1735 WALTON  who md JANE
WAILES 6 APR 1829.

mother, MATTIE 38, and their father, EDMUND was 43.  ED & MATTIE had
been married 15 years in 1901.  Their home and windmill looks
substantial and approximately 10 years old.  The house has the same

colts, and hired man  belong to ED?
