Macy was near two others.  I did find JOHN NEWTON HAYS in Montgomery

and SAMUEL HAYS but these are common names.  The sons of JOSEPH

cleaning establishment and he waskilled in a fire at the cleaning
establishment.

This family is not in the 1910 census of Cozad, Dawson, NE.  So they had
probably moved to CA in 1910.

I had an interesting experience with a snapshot of Maud Hays.  I did a lot of Family History, when we lived in Woodland Hills, CA. About 1984 I remember sitting down at my desk one weekday morning, determined to organize the piles of papers that were scattered there.  Piles of letters,pictures, etc.  Genie Morris, a distant cousin and expert HAYS FAMILY researcher had sent me a gift--a beautiful picture album gift. The album was also on the desk.  It held a treasure of pictures encased in deep blue velvet covers with several old Hays Family photos inside. There were a few loose snapshots, some of which were on the desk top. One of those, showed two women standing next to a tree. The woman on the right just mesmerized me for some reason.  I remember  where the picture layed--there on the right hand side of the desk pad.  I looked at it for a few moments and thought how much like my mother the one woman looked. And I said to myself, "She looks about 30 years old."  "28!" I heard, very clearly in my mind.  Then I turned the snapshot over and on the back was written "May 09".  That's all there was.  But it was enough.  From that I was able to determine that it was MAUDE, who was born Feb 1881 and who was 28 years old in 1909. MAUDE HAYS!

JOHN  (4) HAYS  b 1818 probably in Allegheny Co, PA  Probably died young..
JOSEPH  (4) HAYS  b 1820 probably in Allegheny Co, PA. Died June 17, 1839.
JULIA  (4) HAYS  b 1822 probably in Allegheny Co, PA.  m 1847 Samuel J. Meloney.  No children.
WILLIAM VANCE (4) HAYS b at Hays Crossing (now Iffley), Allegheny Co. PA. m 1852 Emily Lorain.  Three children.  Lived at "Meadowbrook Farm", Imperial PA.  Built a colonial home there about 1870.  He raised and sold horses used in the Civil War.  Died 1902.  Both buried Valley Presby. Church Graveyard, Imperial, PA.
JAMES (4) HAYS b 1827 probably Allegheny Co, PA m 1865 Jennie McCowan. No children.  He d 1876 at Hays Crossing (now Iffley) PA.  He had contracted tuberculosis while digging gold in CA.
MOSES PETERSON (4) HAYS b 1829, probably Allegheny Co, PA.  Physician. Practiced West End, Pittsburgh, PA.  Md 1869 Eliza Patton.  No children.

Emily LORAIN was born 4 Nov 1830 in , , PA. She died 9 Aug 1891 in Of Meadowbrook Farm, Imperial, PA and was buried in Valley Presby Ch Cem, Imperial, P A. Emily married William Vance HAYS on 11 Mar 1852 in Of Imperial, PA.

LEWIS CASS (5) HAYS - He helped build the Northern Pacific RR near Butte MT, before the town was there.  md 1st Flora Hindman, grad in music from Blairsville Sem, PA; md 2nd Emma Whetstone.  He had six children, three by each mg. D 193-.

Presbyterian.  Lived Punxsutawney PA 1916-17; Johnstown, PA 1919-1925; Imperial, PA 1955, later Pittsburgh, PA.

EDWARD HINDMAN (6) HAYS -Child of first mg.  Md first Mabel Anderson (1890-1918); m 2nd, 1928, Elizabeth Patterson 1899-1930--dau of Dr. John Mason Patterson.)  One son by second mg.  D 1935 near Oakdale, PA.
