1786, CYRUS'S mother, EDITH  moved to Smith twp., Wash. Co., PA
  in 1786-her birth year.
1807-abt EDITH HAYS md DAVID HAYES.

1826 May 5, CYRUS born  in Washington Co. Pa. either at Cross Creek or
Smith  townships.
1856 CYRUS HAYS was Adm of estate of bro MOSES at Homer, Champaign
ILL.
m NANCY RANKIN.
1860 census of Homer IL, they had 2 daus.
1st wife NANCY HAYS buried Davis Cem.
1863 CYRUS probably M. 2nd MRS. MARY RANKIN (LICENSE ONLY)
1869  CYRUS was deceased when his father died.  No burial record.
Should TRY Civil War Pension.

Either FRANCIS COOK, JEDEDIAH, or CYRUS went to Iowa and
had dau MARY b 1865.

Samuel HAYS [Parents] was born 12 Mar 1830 in Of Washington Co, PA and was christened 13 Jun 1831 in Cross Creek, Presb Church, Washington Co., PA. He died 11 Mar 1880 in Homer, , IL and was buried in Davis Cem, Bet Homer And, Fairmount, OH. Samuel married Martha DILLEY about 1853 in , Of Champaign Co., IL.

"Samuel Hays  b 1830 d in the 1870s.  Md Martha, 4 sons 4 daus.  He was
a carpenter."  (E. Morris:14 typed pages of ms in 8 x 11 brown envelope.

E. Morris wrote Nov 1969: "The research for the Hays history has been
very good this past year.  The descendants of Moses (2) daughter EDITH
who m. DAVID HAYS of Ohio finally turned up.  In 1965, I published the
MOSES HAYS Bible records. . .letter from JOHN HASTINGS of Cleveland, O.
saying that he is a descendant of DAVID and EDITH.  .  .his parents, REV &
MRS. WENDLING HASTINGS, live in Topeka.  The children of DAVID and
EDITH (HAYS) HAYS were all born in Cross Creek or Smith twps.,
Washington Co., PA.  I found the baptism of the last four at Cross Creek
Presb. Church a few years ago...(see E. MORRIS letter to CAROL MINSON).
EDITH had 12 children, but two of the girls died young.

E. MORRIS wrote Feb 1971:  "I'm compiling the line of Edith(3) Hays
(Moses 2, David 1) who m. DAVID HAYS JR. of Cross Creek twp.  I can't
find any connection with our Smith twp., family.
The family is huge of course since DAVID & EDITH had 9 sons and 1 dau
who lived to maturity. For a start, the oldest son had 12 children and the
youngest had 9."

        SAMUEL'S father-DAVID JR. is in the
1860 Census of ILL twice.  He is at Homer, Champaign, Co., ILL with
youngest son SAMUEL & family-----3 months later with his dau,
ELIZABETH (& family) at Fairmont, Vermillion Co., ILL.  Homer &
Fairmont are only 9 miles apart.  The cem between contains
many of EDITH'S desc.
1869 May 29  DAVID JR. d atHomer, Champaign Co. IL
is buried in a family cem So of Muncie in
Vermillion Co Ill, with oldest son, JOHN & family.
(Much of last 3 lines came from ancestral file-1977)
1870-1880 SAMUEL HAYS died bet 1870-1880.  Buried  Davis Cem.
1880 Family still there at Homer in 1880.
Two sons & wives buried Homer, but neither couple had children.

Martha DILLEY was born about 1836 in , , VA. She married Samuel HAYS about 1853 in , Of Champaign Co., IL.
