then on to Cozad NE
1887 JOHN C. "Came with his parents to Logan Co fall of 1887 and
homesteaded land about 10 mi w of Sterling." obit.
1900 Jun 14- Census of South Sterling, Logan CO ED-183 sheet 4 (7?)

1901 JUL 4, Marriage at Sterling, Colo for Chancy Hague and Ella Flock.
Belle Hohl and S. R. Propst witnesses. (mg certificate in my poss. CM)
1910 Chancy is probably up in Denton Montana. (prob 1909-1919) Try the
census for that area. Is it Chouteau Co? Recheck. With the soundex, it's
fairly simple.
I couldn't find him. in 1910 census..tried 3 times. Didn't try Montana.
Hilda (Bowlin) Leverton, phone conversation April and May 1983. She
was living then in Colorado- 5310 Newland, Arvada CO. 80002. ph
303-430-0944. with her son Leon from her 1st mg--in Arvada.
She said:
"Uncle Chan (Chauncy Hague) had a homestead up in Montana. My folks
went up there (Montana) after I was born."(she was born Oct 1908) "I
was 3 or 4 years old when they left OK early 1900's. Stayed in Montana
about 10-12 years. Up on Chouteau County, Graceville, east of Ft.
Benton. Uncle Chan's homestead was at Denton, further south than
Chouteau Co. He didn't go as far north as my folks. We Left there in
1919." ( This is Hilda Bowlin speaking:) "I went to school there from 1st
grade thru 5th grade- started school 1st grade- age 6, tar paper shacks
went thru 5th grade in Montana and then left.."
"Uncle Chan didn't have any children that I know of."
"Before we left Montana, we went back to Mounds."
I asked if Uncle Chauncy was md up in Montana...and she said "NO, he
wasn't md in Montana. He never got md as far as she knew.".
BEAULAH (HAGUE) HALE was d/o HARRY HAGUE s/o CARL HAGUE.
Beaulah identified the picture of Uncle Chan. (JOHN CHANCY and WALTER
B. HAGUE were CARL HAGUE'S younger brothers from Sterling Colorado.)
Beaulah went on: "Walt and Chan were there--(Warner) -lived there.
Chan was there more than Walt. Chan lived with my Dad when he died
(1929), then he went back to Colorado. Walt and Chan batched together
and farmed together for a year or so."
"Chan was tall, Uncle Walter was shorter. Chan had one arm off --it got
in a machine in Colorado. Chan was real jolly and pleasant." (Beaulah-
May 17, 1984.)
Walter A. Hague b 27 Feb 1912 said his Great Uncles, Walter B. and
Chancy, visted when Walter A was about 9 years old. (abt 1921)
They told him some things.* see below. Walter A (probably lived at
Drumright). Walter B. came to visit for about 2 weeks to help harvest a
crop. No wife came with him.
1938 AUG 29 date of death of JOHN CHANCY HAGUE.

Obit extracts: Funeral at 1st Baptist Ch, pioneer resident of
Sterling-died at home of sister, Mrs. Della Propst 335N 4th Street--That
has been his home past three years in impaired health--bedfast past 11
weeks. He has worked and traveled extensively in OK, Montana and other
states. Survivors 2 sister and brother-Walter. No mention of a wife.
