Personal notes of Mayme Hays Bowdle & Bement Cem. Inscriptions.
"Mr. Bowdle was a farmer and the owner of several small central Illinois
telephone companies. He was originally a Methodist and Mrs. Bowdle a
Presbyterian. The family was reared as Presbyterian but in the 1930's
because of liberalism in the church, Mr. and Mrs. Bowdle left to join the
Wheaton Bible Church which is loosely affiliated with Wheaton College
and the Moody Bible Institute. They were regular Republicans."
