SOURCE:  (1) From charts prepared by Miriam Dexter;

"EDMUND & MATTIE BELLE DEXTER."

(On back:)  "ED born April 4, 1858, Ontario Canada.
and MATTIE BELLE born 12/25/1864.
      Married 11/3/1886."

George H. Dexter sent this photograph of his father,
HAROLD DEXTER as a boy (about 5 years of age.)  He is sitting
on the arm of a wicker chair.  Picture taken at Edlington Studios in
Marysville,Marshall Co., KS.

George H. Dexter sent (31 May 1991) a wonderful old picture of: "THE
EDMUND DEXTER FAMILY outside their Marshall Co., Kansas, farmhouse.
Little HAROLD looks about 5 years old, and JULIA about 7 which would
make the year about 1901.  GRACE was 10 in 1901, MYRLE was 12, their
mother, MATTIE 38, and their father, EDMUND was 43.  ED & MATTIE had
been married 15 years in 1901.  Their home and windmill looks
substantial and approximately 10 years old.  The house has the same
siding (clapboard?) as his father's house.  Do the four horses, two with
colts, and hired man  belong to ED?

George H. Dexter sent a very clear picture of his father HAROLD DEXTER
sitting in a horse drawn buggy with a convertible top.  It's taken in front
of their home (Elm Creek, Kansas) and HAROLD looks abt. 20.  1916.

++++++++++
George H. Dexter also sent an outstanding picture of JULIA and GRACE
DEXTER.  They appear to be outside the afore-mentioned  Kansas
farmhouse, and JULIA might be 22 and GRACE 25.  If so, the year would
be 1916.
___________

I taught out in country school at age 17, in Marshall Co.  The next year I
had 48 second graders in two divisions. Then after that I went to college
and got my degree in three years."

George Dexter also sent a small snapshot of "ED DEXTER & grandson,
BYRON."  BYRON looks about 2.  About 1917.
(Birth Date: a list of birthdays, sent to Carol by Miriam, July 1990:

George H. Dexter sent a snapshot (31 May 1991) of: "ED & son, HAROLD
DEXTER.   Fort Leonard Wood, Mo."   Harold has a WWI  army uniform on, so
it must have been about 1918.  He would have been 22 years old in 1918.
His father, EDMUND DEXTER  would have been 60 years old in 1918.
