------------
"David Allen McGinnis married Sarah Jane Marsh when he was 27. In July
1852, with their infant son Parmenas, they settled down on a farm near the head
of the north fork of the Hughes River, near her parents Mary Ann and Enoch
Marsh, in Ritchie County WV. After his wife died in 1876, leaving eight
children still at home, David's 14 year old daughter Sarah kept house for him
until she married in 1883. Then Liza and Lina took over until their deaths from
tuberculosis at age 20.
"In 1887, ten years after his first wife died, David married again. At
47, Nancy Hammett was almost twenty years younger than him, and well able to
help on the farm as he entered his seventies.
"More than half a century after the death of the Rev. David Allen McGinnis, his
grandson Herbert could still report, "Everybody says he was the finest man they
ever met."

"Rev David Allen Mcginnis lived in WV as do most of his children.
His son Enoch lives in TX but not near the families of his uncles.
Melcena, David's daughter, lived at St. Mary's on the Ohio river.
David's brother, Melville lived near Beeville, TX. His brother Oliver lived in
TX and in FL.
Fletcher's family are scattered one in Galveston, one in Cleveland, TX, one at
Liberty Hill, TX. Mary who md William Johnston never went to TX (nor did
David.) and she lived at Huntington, where her family still lives. Huntington
is where the estate of Mr Beuhring was. They had a deer park, a boat landing
and his boats carried produce the length of the rivers. One of his or
Melcena's daughters, no Melcena's granddaughters lives in Houston, but their
youngest son, Millard Beuhring, still lives. He had two sons but both died and
he says the name dies with him. He was born in 1858 and his mother (died?) in
