Came to America in 1834 (1854?)Arrived at St. Joe on a steamboat in 1858 and later located at Palermo, KS...lg general store, postmaster...1876 came to St Joe. 1882 hardware business until his death. First Presb Ch. Mason... wife died 4 years before. Leaves two dau Mrs. Ernest Chase of 618 N 12th St and Mrs. L W J Meyer of Milwaukee...brother, August Miller of Wathena."

1927 Aug 12: obit for Mrs. Emma Chase, wife of Ernest E pres of the Chase Candy Co. 65 yrs old, born in Palermo KS. Leaves a son, Charles Chase, St. Joseph; a dau Mrs. Hilo Bradley, Paris France, a sister Mr. H. A. Meyer Milwaukee Wis and 4 grandchildren. Family home is at
1102 Felix Street.
Palermo no longer exists, but one time a steamboat landing on the MO River. She was md in St. Joe 29 (39?) years ago. Member of 1st Christian ch. Burial Mount Mora Cem. Section I block 44.
