LA Library has a book on Clay County. pg 425:
"1820 & 1828. . . early settlers, William Strange." Is this an Uncle of Rolan Strange?
1820-1830: . Check the earliest census indexes for Clay Co. Mo for Stranges.
(2002: Did---NO STRANGES in 1820 or 1830 MO index books.)
1840: CM checked the 1840 census of Clay Co. Mo. Nil.
and the 1850 census of Clay Co. Mo....did not find anything. Geri and I did
this years ago, before the census indexes.

This indicates that WILLIAM THOMAS died AFTER Nov 1915.

His grandchildren are: Mrs.Freda LeRock of Alton, KS; Lt. Bryan Strange and Ralph Strange of Philips University, OK; Charles Strange of Lillis
and Sunshine and Babe who are at home.
"In early day Mr. Strange was the pony express rider from Irving to Atchison and also freighted from marysville to Ft. Kearney, NE. He was present during the Indian raid at Kearney and was invited by Wild Bill to ome to have breakfast with him the morning following the raid. Mr. Strange hauled the first and last stone on the dam.
He was a quiet an unassuming man and said not to have a single enemy. His greatest delight was in the progress of his grandchildren and he wished to live to see the end of the war in which some of his grandsons were participants.
Burial in Prospect Hill cemetery --where his wife's remains are."
