(Apparently Ben's middle initial was "F" as indicated above. Also"B. F." in 3 different court records listed below. It's likely the F was misread as an R.)

1856 Jul 5: They sold that same property to Henry Rickman for $150--Neither could write.
1856: They moved from Cedar Co MO to CA and settled in Chico, CA.

1880: Census of Chico Twp, Butte Co, CA .Benjamin was listed as living on Hazel street.
(See this census because son, George W. Strange b 1854 was listed living on Hazel Street in same census. Father, Ben, living with him?)

1904-1905: B. Strange listed as a laborer residing at 921 Sixth Street in Chico City Directory.
Also listed in same directory, a S.M. Strange at 942 Sixth Street and
also a Burt Strange, laborer, boarding at 607 Ninth Street.
1905: Ben drafted his will and listed where each of his children lived at the time:
George W resided in Los Angeles, CA in 1905
Thomas Frank lived in Chico, CA in 1905.
Sarah B. Strange Harris lived in Oakland, CA in 1905.
Josephine Strange Purcell lived in Arizona in 1905.
Kate Strange Schilling lived in Nelson, Butte Co, CA in 1905.
1905 Jun 5: Rachel died intestate in Chico, Butte Co, CA. She owned certain parcels of property in town and her estatae was settled in probate court. See her notes.
1915: He died in California.

Samuel Adams and brothers Charlie and Will of Blue Rapids, Kansas were sons of Samuel Strange of Halifax county, VA.
SAMUEL had 7 brothers: MARTIN, JOHN C., PAUL, JOSEPH, CALVIN & ROLLAND. Their father was HENRY STRANGE, he lived in Campbell Co, VA not far from Lynchburg. Henry Strange's father is reported to have come from Scotland and to have been related to Sir Robert Strange, the Artist of London.
MARTIN is said to live in Alabama.
JOHN was killed in the rebellion.
PAUL died in Missouri.
JOSEPH died in California.
ROLLAND lived in Kansas.
BEN lives in Colorado.
CALVIN is thought to be dead."
