Jas. MCQUADE was born in Of Guernsey Co, OH. He married Emaline HAGUE on 14 Aug 1852 in , Guernsey, Ohio.

MARRIAGE: IGI shows "Emaline Hague md Jas McQuaid  13/15/ Aug 1852,
at Guernsey, Ohio."

Shawn-Paul Allison said the Margaret McQuade got 1/2 of Hannah's
estate.  From this I assume that Emaline (Hague) McQuade had a dau
named Margaret.
ACTION:  Study Hannah's estate papers!

Emaline HAGUE [Parents] was born 1827 in , Of Guernsey Co., Ohio. She married Jas. MCQUADE on 14 Aug 1852 in , Guernsey, Ohio.

BIRTH:   calculated from 1850 census of Ohio, Guernsey: "Emeline 23
years old."

CENSUS:  1840, Ohio, Guernsey, Millwood  Twp. p 331.
"JOHN Hague 40-50, 1 f 40-50;
(6 children) l m under 5,
2 m 5-10,
1 m 15-20;   (Joseph?)
1 f 10-15,     (Emiline?)
1 f 15-20"
(There is a Charles McQuade family  10 families away.)
There are also 2 other  John Hagues in 1840 Census.  One is in Wills Twp p 313, and another is in Richland twp p 412.  They only have 4 children

It appears that JEHU HAGUE lived in a corner of a township and was
visited by three census takers in the year 1840.  However, the question
remains whether there were 4 or 6 children in Jehu's family?
Another possibility is that he lived with another woman, besides Hannah.

CENSUS:   1850, Ohio, Guernsey, Wright Twp. p 318b:
"John Hauge, 48 M, 1300, PA
Hannah  "      50 F,  O   Cannot read or write
Emiline "      23 F,  O
(I think they are still in the same location.  Wills Twp was divided into
Wills and Wright, I think.)

Jeremiah was mentioned in 1864 and 1863 when the estates of Thomas Sappington and John Shutt were settled in Stark and Tuscarawas Co. OH after the death of his grandmother Mary Shutt Sappington Weaver.

When his father's estate was settled, he had already died. His daughters shared $5.00.

These daughters (Luella M., Alice G., Myrtle E, Mildred E.) were named in James Brookens' wills as receiving Jeremiah's share of his estate. Each was under the age of 21 and living in NE.

Mary Luelia Brookens migrated from Bllomington Wisconsin, to Dawes County, Nebraska, when she was 10{.years old, in a covered wagon, with her parents and brother and sisters.

Her father, Jeremiah Brookens, had filed on a claim in Dawes County, and n few months later he died. Ilia wife, Laura, and children returned to Wisconsin and lived there until Isiah Johnson died in 1881.

Then, when her mother married W.J. Pock, she again made the trip to western Nebraska in n covered wagon with the family. She worked as n house maid and ns a waitress in a hotel dining room until she was 17 years old, at Crawgord, Nebraska.

Tben, she met and married Frank Cady, and they lived at lluhbard, Iowa for about I year. They later moved to Buffalo Center, Iowa. Their first three children died of who bping cough and pneumonia in February, 1892. Later, Loran and Grace were born.

'Cady lost his Job with the nursery company due to a fund deficit and applied for a Job on the farm. My father was a bachelor and often hired a man and his wife, so he hired them. The nursery company demanded payment, and Cady's mother, who lived at Hubbard, Iowa, offered to pay the bill. But she insisted that her son remain and farm her land. He wrote to his wife and urged her to join him, but she disliked his mother and refused. The bachelor farmer was reluctant to lose his housekeeper, and  he urged her to stay. Cady never returned. About two years later,  she divorced Cady and married Edward Stonecypher.
To this Union, four children were born: Levena, William Henry, Theodore, and Howard.

They had the following children:

My great grandfather is William Garside Lewis who was the husband of
Emma Jane Brookens.  The family story of this Lewis line says that there
has only been one son to carry on the Lewis name since a Lewis stow away
on a ship from England.  It is rather true, as my brother, who is an
only son, has one son, my father was the only son, his father, who is a
son of William Garside, had an older brother, but he never married.
William's mother died on her anniversary one month after he was
born--due to an infection from birth.  He was the only child to her and
Elisha J. Lewis.  I don't know if Elisha remarried after her death
though.  Elisha's father was Mathew Lewis and his father was Benjamin
Lewis.   All these Lewis men are supposedly the only one to carry on the
Lewis name.

Emma Jane BROOKENS [Parents] was born 16 May 1868 in , Of Grant, WI. She died 1 14 Sep 1931 in Platteville, , WI. Emma married William Garside LEWIS on 26 Feb 1890 in , Of Grant, WI.
