Notes of conversation with Miriam  June 1985:
Miriam, age 2 1/2, moved to Norton, Kansas--1 year then to
Middlebranch.  Her father, Teasdale 53 was partner in livery
stables--year of b eginnig of automobile.
They moved to Page, western Nebr where Dorothy was born, Holt Co.
Middlebranch  ---lost---Teas had a store.
To Pawnee City--"Dad had a laundry--5 years there
To Trenton, Neb, there Teas had heart problem.
"Dad had 2 horses--came on train
drove from Pawnee City to the farm at Home."
"Uncle Will found us a home in Marysville.  Fred and I in same class in
high school.  Five Dexters in high school at same time."
Carol's Dad sold Home farm  2 years before Dexters would have had it
100 years!

Marriage:  Never married
Death:Info from Sue Brandyberry in letter dated Mar. 30 1995:
a blurb from an extension service newsletter, "Miriam Dexter, 91, who
retired in 1973 as assistant extensiion editor, publicatioins, died Feb 6
(1995)  She began her Extension career in 1944"  Her b-day was in May.

Miriam taught school at Manhattan, Kansas.

In 1985, Carol took picture of the old cottonwood tree which marked the
entrance of the driveway to Miriams home in Center Twp. Marshall Co.
KS. Miriam said, "I remember that entrance from the time I was 7 or 8
years old, when we'd come back to Marshall Co."

Phone Conv with Miriam Dexter 27 April 1991: She had just had a visit
with a Margaret (?) Richardson who had lived with Miriam her
(Margaret's) first year at Kansas State U.
I asked about her pictures.  I saw some wonderful Dexter pictures
(many of the children of Asahel and Jane Dexter) when I visited Miriam
in 1985.  She thought she still had most of them.  She has promised them
to her niece Barbara, who with husband, Skip Slawson, lives in
Washington D.C.  (May 5th, Carol talked to Barbara.  She has 3 or 4 boxes
of pictures that Miriam has sent her.  She hasn't gone through them yet.)
Miriam said her cousin (Roy Stohler....on Whipps side) lives in
central or Eastern Part of NE.  He took pictures of her pictures.  She has
names on most of them, but there is possibility that there may be errors,
because Olga, Tom's daughter identified one picture, "Oh yes, that was
grandmother" and it wasn't.  (I've talked to Roy in May 1991.  He will
send me Dexter pictures.  Only has 5 or 6 Dexter pictures.  May 8, 1991:
He sent me PAF of Miriams genealogy which he xeroxed and then put on
computer.  Includes both Whipps [Miriam's mother's line, not mine] and
Dexters.  It's IBM Compat.  Carol hasn't seen it yet.)
Miriam said she has charts on her wall.  Arwayne made a copy, an
EXCELLENT COPY and she had it printed and framed.  She's had copies
made, but not sure where they are.

Miriam had her grandmother (Jane Whitfields) weding ring.  Ethel
Robinson gave it to her.  It was in a display case with a Mother of Pearl
toothpick and cuff links of Teasdales (Miriam's father) and a pearl pen of
her Aunt Matilda's.

Miriam also had a gret horn spoon of Whitfields which came from
England.  Did she call it a Meerschaum?

May 6, 1991: (phone) I asked if she and Dad went to school
together.  He's born 1905 She born 1903.  "No.  I went to H.S. at
Marysville, one year. . . We left when I was 2 l/2, out to Norton KS.
Stayed there about a year.  Dad. . .keep horses and such. . . Beginning of
cars, so his business no good.  Don't think they (Richardson's) out there
then.   From there we went into NE, northmost part."
"Ray and David (her nephews, Barbara's brothers), no pictures.  Some
wanted some of the nice dishes, antiques.  Barbara wanted the pictures."

EDMUND DEXTER FAMILY outside their Marshall Co., Kansas, farmhouse.
Little HAROLD looks about 5 years old, and JULIA about 7 which would
make the year about 1901.  GRACE was 10 in 1901, MYRLE was 12, their
mother, MATTIE 38, and their father, EDMUND was 43.  ED & MATTIE had
been married 15 years in 1901.  Their home and windmill looks
substantial and approximately 10 years old.  The house has the same
siding (clapboard?) as his father's house.  Do the four horses, two with
colts, and hired man  belong to ED?

George Dexter also sent a small snapshot of "ED DEXTER & grandson,
BYRON."  BYRON looks about 2.  About 1917.
(Birth Date: a list of birthdays, sent to Carol by Miriam, July 1990:
