   "Obituary for Mrs. Samantha Reed"
Mrs. Samantha Reed passed away in Superior, Wis., April 27, 1918.
She was a daughter of James and Mariah Brookens and was born October 26, 1853.  She grew to womanhood in the town of Glen Haven and was married to Peter Suer in 1872.  To this union one son was born.  She was divorced from Peter Suer in 1874 and was married to Urias Reed in 1892.  To this union three children were born: Iva, Rose, and one son, LaVern, who died in infancy.  She lived in Burton until 1901, when she moved to Nelson, Wis., where she resided for several years, moving from there to Superior, Wis., where she made her home until her death.  She united with the M.E. church at Burton in 1893 and has been a consistent member of this church until her death.

She leaves to mourn her loss one son, Benjamin Suer, of Lancaster; two daughters, Ivy Reed of Pepin, Minn., and Rose Reed of La Crosse; two brothers, James W. Brookens of Tama, Iowa, and Columbus Brookens, Parker, SD; two sisters, Mrs. Olive A. Yager of Lancaster, and Mrs. Emma Mason of Glen Haven; a half brother, Joseph Brookens of Montana, and a half sister, Margaret Ziegler of Cassville, besides numerous nephews and nieces and a large number of friends.
