1853 Before he died, Richard Hewitt had a dream about hords of people coming into Oklahoma. He told his wife to get out of that country as it would be torn up by war. . He also said he had never left the church. He was an Elder. (more of this story in Rebecca's Journal.) Rebecca also mentions her father visited Lyman Wight in Texas but"could not agree that what he believed was of sound doctrine."
Dau, REBECCA'S journal says she has a sister 3 years older and a brother 6 years older than herself and a brother 3 years younger and a sister 5 years younger. She also said her father, Richard Hewitt died 15 Sept 1852 " . . . I was now 12 years old and fatherless." But she also said she and (brother) Will started for Texas --after his death-- six weeks later and she "WOULD BE 13 ON THE 22 NOV." This indicates an 1853 death for Richard. Rebecca born 22 Nov 1840.
